The HHSC Committee is responsible for the smooth running of the Club and its financial affairs, as well as the future strategy of the club. It meets on the first Monday of the month. The committee members are all volunteers and all parents of swimmers are eligible to stand for election. Swimmers and parents are encouraged to give feedback to Committee members or raise any concerns through them.
If you would like to get involved at committee level, contact the chairperson for more information.
CHAIR: Joan Keevill
Joan was elected to the Chair at the AGM in October 2008. Joan has one son, Jamie, who swims in the Regional Squad. She joined the committee in 2006 to revamp the club's website. She lives in Hemel Hempstead. Joan is a consultant, facilitator and leadership trainer by profession and has now taken over the role of coaching development.
TREASURER: Ian Dignum
Ian joined the Committee as Treasurer in September 2009 and has one daughter, Katie, aged 10, swimming for the Club. Ian works as a Commercial Director and is responsible for both business development and IT at the outsourcing company he works for, based in Nottingham. Having volunteered to work poolside on a couple of occasions (and thoroughly enjoyed it), Ian was keen to get more involved in the Club and looks forward to this new challenge.
HEAD COACH: Charles Dainton
To anyone involved with swimming in Hemel, or indeed the County, Charles needs no introduction. He has been involved with HHSC for over 20 years and is Head Coach. Charles has been a member of the Committee for the past 5 years and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Club’s history. He has overseen the Club’s development from a middle ranking swimming club to one of the premier clubs in the County. Charles eats, sleeps, lives and breathes swimming and is a great asset to the club, especially when it comes to recruiting new, young swimmers from the surrounding schools.
CLUB SECRETARY: Annette Reed
Annette has been involved with the Club since 1987, and has been a Committee member for majority of this time, undertaking the role of Secretary between 1989 -1997 and again in October 2008. Annette orders stock for the Club swim shop. Annette worked for 30 years at Kodak Limited as a Buyer in Purchasing, taking early retirement in December 2004.
ADMIN and MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY: Andrew Farrow
Andrew is the club's admin and membership secretary. Andrew's daughter has been swimming with the club since 2006 and is now in the Development Squad; his son has just joined Aquabears. Andrew runs a small consultancy specialising in digital media rights. He has always hated swimming (and indeed participating in any sport) with a passion and is unable to explain how he comes to be doing what he is (but, says the Chair, he is extremely well organised and efficient and is slowly but surely bringing the club's processes into the 21st century!).
MEMBER: Adrienne Monger
Adrienne was a squad swimmer until entering university and on completion of her studies has rejoined the Club as a Master swimmer. She is responsible for charity events, fundraising and sponsorship.
MEMBER: Mark Horrod
Mark has been coaching at the club since 2004 and is a Level 2 Club Coach. He has a daughter who swims at the club and became involved in coaching through her. He has also been an active Committee member for several years.
MEMBER: Claire Jelfs
Claire was elected as a General Committee Member in 2009, and has taken on a fund-raising role on the committee . Claire's eldest children Emily and Max swim at the club. Her husband Luke who represented the club in his youth helps with coaching the Junior Squad. Claire lives in Boxmoor and works with children with special needs at a local primary school.
WELFARE OFFICER - Tina Smith
Tina has a son Jack who swims in the Development Squad. They both came to the Club in April 2009 and have enjoyed getting to know people in the club. Tina lives in Hemel Hempstead and teaches IT out in the community. She freely admits preferring to watch swimming than taking part in it.
