Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club has been awarded the ASA’s prestigious Swim21 Award. The award is the ASA’s ‘quality mark’, recognising nationally and regionally the clubs that are ‘committed to providing safe, effective and quality services for the benefit of their members’.

By going through the process of accreditation, clubs audit their procedures and develop their planning and processes. This includes basing swimmer training on the principles of Long Term Athlete Development, developing and training coaches and other volunteers and ensuring the management of the club is sound.

Thanking everyone involved, Club Chair, Joan Keevill, said: “I am delighted to be receiving this award on behalf of HHSC. We are fortunate to have a co-ordinator within the club who managed the process for us and uploaded all the documentation into the new online system. As a result of Swim21, we now have tightly managed procedures throughout the club which work to the benefit of swimmers, parents and all our volunteers. It feels like we are more professional, our high standards are clear for all to see and contribute to our on-going recruitment and development.”

The Swim21 Certificate was presented to Joan and Head Coach Alan Doyle on Sunday 8th January by Herts ASA President and former HHSC Head Coach, Charles Dainton.
