Long Course meet at Corby

Kelsey Doyle was one of five swimmers from Hemel Hempstead who travelled all the way to Corby last Saturday to take part in a Level One meet in a brand new Olympic standard 50m pool. The point of the exercise was for our Regional level swimmers to gain some race practice in a long course pool.  Not having trained for this particular event, it was not so much about times and results, as a learning curve.

Kelsey Doyle, however, managed to put in a Personal Best time on her 100m breaststroke, bringing her long course PB down to a 1.27.02 and claiming 5th spot.

Lois Moore also swam a good 100m freestyle to finish just outside her long course PB in 1.04.97.

Paige Wilding, despite not swimming on top form, managed to claim three top ten placings, coming 7th, 8th and 9th in the 100m backstroke, 100m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke respectively.

Freya Mayhew made top ten with 9th in the 100m backstroke.

Freddie Woodcock, generally off form on the day, slipped into the top 10 on his 100m backstroke.

The swimmers will hope to gain from lessons learnt and come back stronger when competing at this level in a 50m pool next time.   Well done to them all.
