Hemel’s swimmers were on fine form last weekend at Maxwell’s Level 3 Open meet, winning a host of medals and putting in some great PBs.

Max Jelfs has finally reached the age of open meet competition and is making sure everyone knows about it!    Swimming in the 10-and-under age group, he was the fastest 9 year-old in every event in which he swum, including the 200m IM, and 50m butterfly.  Not only that, he won the 50m backstroke outright and claimed bronze medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke.
Megn Pirrie was on her usual form, winning the 10/under girls 200m backstroke and 200m butterfly with a silver in the 100m freestyle.
Ben Garratt claimed gold in the 10/under boys’ 200m IM and 200m butterfly.
Lewis Beardsworth is a swimmer showing rapid improvement at the moment.  He claimed first spot in the 12 years’ 200m breaststroke and 50m freestyle and silver in the 100m breaststroke.
Kelsey Doyle won three silvers in the 13 year girls’ 200m breaststroke, 100m IM and 200m IM.  She also took two bronze medals in the 50m butterfly and 100m breaststroke.
Sam Pigott was on blistering form, winning the 15-16 boys’ 100m freestyle, coming second in the 100m backstroke and swimming too fast for an award in the 50m freestyle with a staggering time of 26.43, close to Tom Osborn’s club record of 26.12.
Lawrence Hall posted some good times along with a bronze position in the 15-16 boys’ 50m freestyle.
There were other great swims from Hemel.  Well done to everyone who attended.
The indicators are looking good for some thrilling races and fantastic times at the upcoming Sprint Club Champs starting this weekend.
