Long course records lowered at Luton

There were 39 PB's from 45 swims and 13 Club records broken, some of them twice, at Team Luton's April Long Course meet last weekend.

Charlie Rayner led the charge with four first places in the 50 and 200 breaststroke and the 50 and 100 fly, setting new age group records in all four events and a new open record in the 50 breaststroke.  Charlie's 50 breaststroke time places him 4th in the country in his age group and his 50 fly is 19th in the country.  He already has top 24 times in the 100 and 200 breastroke from previous swims.

Lois Moore and Tom Sherriff set new open Club records in the 50, 100 and 200 free, both having to hold off challenges in the 50 free from Emily Jelfs  and Freddie Woodcock respectively who both broke the previous records.  Tom also lowered his own open record for the 100 fly whilst Freddie set a new open record for the 50 back as well as lowering his own open record for the 50 fly, in the process holding off a challenge from Matt Sherriff who also beat the previous record.

Aimee Abrey and Josh Gaines both set new open records in the 200 back, Aimee breaking a reord that had stood for 6 years, whilst Max Jelfs set a new 200 fly open record.

Age group records were set by Shona McKenna in the 50 free, Aimee Abrey in the 50 and 100 back, Max Jelfs in the 1500 free and 200 fly, Tom Sherriff in the 100 breast and Josh Gaines in the 200 IM.

Finally commiserations to Sam Gaines who all too briefly held the 14 yr old boys 50 fly record - before seeing his new record beaten by Charlie Rayner!
