Two bronze medals in the 4 x 100 relays were the highlights of an excellent first weekend of the East Region Championships at Luton.   There were 3 finalists, 11 top ten finishes, 35 personal best times and 36 new long course records from 47 swims.

Congratulations to our 17 and over 4 x 100 relay teams who both won bronze.  The girls team of Aimee Abrey, Grace Rayner, Lois Moore and Emily Jelfs in the medley relay were only a second from taking second place.  Not to be outdone the boys team in the freestyle relay of Tom Sherriff, Freddie Woodock, Jack Christie and Matt Sherriff  just beat off a strong challenge from the fourth placed team to take third place by a tenth of a second.

Away from the relays Grace Rayner made the finals of the 100 and 200 breast where she finished 6th and 7th respectively.  She set PBs in all five of her swims and new open long course records in all three breaststroke distances.  Head Coach Justin Langford also made the final of the 50 fly, setting a new open record in the process.

There were also new open records for Tom Sherriff who set an impressive 5 new records in the 50, 200 and 400 free, the 100 fly and the 200 IM; Aimee Abrey in the 100 and 200 back; Tom Frewin in the 100 and 200 breast; Lois Moore in the 50 free; Lauren Windsor in the 50 fly; Jack Christie in the 50 breast and Freddie Woodocpck in the 100 back.

In addition there were age group records for Freddie Woodcock in the 50 fly and Lauren Windsor in the 100 fly and good PBs for Josh Gaines, Paige Wilding and Kyle Holmes.
