Swimmers from Hemel Hempstead put in some very promising early season performances when they went to Aylesbury on 26/27th September to compete in the Maxwell Open.

Kyle Holmes swam a fantastic PB in the 10 years’ breaststroke in a highly impressive time of 43.38, taking him way past the speed limit and obliterating the previous club record of 45.70 in the process.  Kyle also scored a PB in the 200m IM in which he finished sixth.

Two club records fell to Megan Pirrie in the 50m and 400m freestyle.  The first, previously held by Charlotte Ballard in 37.03, fell to Megan in a time of 36.33, making her the fastest 9 year old in the 9-10 age group and earning her a bronze medal.  In the 400m freestyle Megan knocked Lucy Hutchins’ time of 6.37.81 off the record books with a new time of 6.14.06, finishing fifth.  Megan also swam a PB in the 50m breaststroke to come seventh, once again proving to be the quickest 9 year-old.

Aimee Abrey improved on her own personal bests in both the 50m breaststroke and the 100m backstroke, coming 16th and 18th in the 11-12 age group, having only just turned 11.

Alisha Kan finished eleventh in the 400m freestyle with a PB.

Paige Wilding, also 11, knocked five seconds off her PB to finish 12th in the 200m IM and also claimed 17th in the 11-12 200m breaststroke.

Ben Garratt rounded off a very successful weekend for our swimmers with a PB in the 50m breaststroke.
