Records Galore!

With Hemel’s swimmers competing in a number of galas and meets in the last couple of months, club records have been tumbling fast.  Here is a round-up of the latest names to make the record books.

Megan Pirrie bettered two of her own previous records in the 10 year girls’ 100m breaststroke (HHSC Birthday Open) and 200m IM (Watford Open).

Emily Jelfs is proving her freestyle pedigree, breaking Rachael Oborne’s record in the 100m freestyle (National League) and Devon Prior’s 200m freestyle record (HHSC middle distance champs).

Paige Wilding took Georgie Varti’s 12 years’ 200m IM record at the Watford Open.

Devon Prior was in record-breaking form at the East Region Winter Championships breaking Jay Bex’s 14 years’ 50m breaststroke time, Rebecca Bowden’s 100m breaststroke, and Lucy Berrington’s 200m breaststroke.

Kelsey Doyle took Katie McLaren’s 14 years’ 100m IM record at the Birthday Open.

Lois Moore bettered Rebecca Bowden’s 15 year girls’ 50m freestyle record (National Arena League), along with Emma Jolly’s 200m butterfly record (HHSC middle distance champs). Her 50m freestyle time also broke her own Open club record.

Gemma Brown broke her own record in the 16-24 50m backstroke at the National Arena League.

Adi Monger went faster than Pam Ware’s 25&Over 100m freestyle record also at the National Arena League.

Max Jelfs is busy collecting 9 year boys’ records.  He took Thushi Kumarage’s 200m freestyle record (HHSC middle distance champs), as well as Thushi’s 200m backstroke in a staggering swim at the Watford Open and broke his own 50m backstroke record at the National Arena League.

Kyle Holmes took two records, the first was his own in the 11 year boys’ 50m breaststroke (National Arena League).  The second was Freddie Woodcock’s 200m breaststroke (Watford Open).

Louis Dunham broke namesake Louis Mayhew’s 12 year boys’ 50m backstroke time at the National Arena League.

Tom Sherriff took three records off Tom Osborn in the 15 year old boys’ 200m and 400m freestyle (HHSC middle distance champs) and 400m IM (Watford Open).

Last but not least, Kevin McKenna broke two 25& Over Men’s records: Dave Pirrie’s 200m freestyle and his own 200mbackstroke (HHSC middle distance champs).

Dave Pirrie bettered his own record in the 400m freestyle at the HHSC middle distance champs also.
