Twenty One Masters from Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club took part in the Hertfordshire ASA Masters Swimming Championships on Saturday 22nd June at Borehamwood. The swimmers ranged in age from 18 to 57 years. Overall they finished runners up in the team competition being their highest placing for many years.
Hemel Hempstead’s blue team competed in the final round of the Peanuts League in Division 1. The swimmers achieved 33 PB times between them, more than in the previous rounds, a testament to their determination.
First place finishes came from Ashley Coombs, U12 50m Back, Isabelle Warren, 9yr 25m Free, Louis Armitage 9yr 25m Breast and Charles Rayner U13 50m Fly.
Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club’s Red Team wrapped up the Division Two third & final round of the Herts Peanuts League on Saturday 15th June.
The club had 32 swimmers competing across the 47 events and pulled out a very credible 4th out of twelve teams competing in Division Two. The whole team put in a tremendous effort and notable swims came from Harrison Newbury-Kemp, Deanna Coe, Mael Jegu, Nicholas Martinez-Wise, Sian Pirrie, Jasmine Coe, Olivia Kerr & Eleanor Bevan who all managed top three finishes in their individual race.
Five Hemel Swimmers Competed at the East of England Youth Regional Champs in early May at Luton's new 50m pool.
The East of England Region consists of six counties – Beds, Herts, Essex, Cambs, Norfolk and Suffolk and Tom Sherriff, Matt Sherriff, Freddie Woodcock, Hannah Bagley and Sam Pigott all qualified to represent Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club at this high level competition.
