Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club Score well at the Dacorum Sports Awards

Friday 29th November the prestigious Dacorum Sports Awards held at Sportspace Berkhamsted with Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club in their centenary year being nominated for three awards:
  •  U21 Coach of the Year – Kira Doyle
  •  Volunteer of the Year – Louise Farrow
  •  Club of the Year – Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club
Hemel Swimmers Bring Home a Bag Full of Medals

Sunday 24th November saw 32 Hemel Swimmers compete at the Watford Middle Distance and Sprints meet at Woodside Leisure Centre Watford, the swimmers competed very well despite many swimming in the early morning session after competing in their own Club Championships the evening before.

Session two continued where session one left off with 118 PBs or first time entries out of 161 swims and 20 new or improved County qualifier times.  Congratulations to Seyi Bankole on achieving his first County qualification time of the season in the 50 breaststroke.

145 PBs or first time entries out of 200 swims, 17 new or improved County qualifying times, a new County qualifier, 1 new Regional qualifying time and 2 new Club records including the first ever holder of a 25 and over 200 fly Club record, male or female.  All this and not a single DQ!  It was a good Saturday evening - even if we missed The Day of the Doctor!
Hemel Senior Swimmers Represent the County

Sunday 17th November saw three of Hemel’s Senior and Masters Swimmers represent Hertfordshire in the East Region Inter Counties Competition. Rachel Barber (25) Kira Doyle (18), and Paul Mackie (20) travelled to Newmarket for a closely contested gala where Hertfordshire finished 2nd behind Essex by only 2 points.
Hemel Youngsters Start Their Swimming Development

Sunday 17th November saw the Hertfordshire Development Meet held at Borehamwood, the meet is designed to give 9, 10 and 11 year old swimmers the chance to qualify for the 2014 Hertfordshire County Swimming Championships.

Hemel Hempstead was well represented with 25 swimmers entered in a range of 50m and 200m swimming events, they brought home a number of medals as well as some of the coveted ‘Passport to Counties 2014’ Certificates.

On 9th November Hemel Hempstead continued competing against some of the top swimming clubs in the Country in the London - Premier Division of the National Arena Swimming League.

The Premier Division includes the top 16 Clubs from London and surrounding areas, this is the first time the club have featured in this top division.
