Hemel swimmers represent Herts

Congratulations to Charlie Rayner and Georgia Purkis who represented Hertfordshire at the Junior Inter County Gala on 8th February at Luton’s 50m pool against top swimmers from Suffolk, Lincs, Essex, Beds and Leics, helping Herts secure a strong 2nd place in the gala behind Essex.

Major League teams victorious again

Both Hemel teams were victorious again in last nights Herts Major League to make it a perfect four wins out of four in the competition so far.  There were stunning individual performances, dominating wins, incredibly tight races and really gutsy swims from everyone.  After two rounds Hemel sit in second place in both Division 1 and Division 2, both teams on equal points with teams from last year’s winners Costa. The third and final round in early March will see an exciting finish for the Herts Major season, with Hemel looking set for their highest finishes in a number of years.

Record County and Regional Qualification at HHSC

It was a busy weekend for Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club with swimmers competing at both the Hatfield and Hertsmere Flyers Open Meets.  With the qualification window now shut for the Herts County Championships which take place in March the club is celebrating a record 72 qualifiers, which is an increase of over 30 percent on last season. This will mean that we will have one of biggest representations at this year’s County Championships.  In addition after the weekend the club already has a record number of 20 swimmers qualified for the East Regional Championships.

Hemel teams storm to double gala wins in Major League

A momentous start to the annual Herts Major League competition saw both of Hemel’s two teams winning their respective events, beating teams from across the county.  With over 60 swimmers in action there were some powerful individual performances and the best possible demonstration of the strength in depth at the Club.

Luton Development Meet

39 Hemel swimmers attended the Luton Level 3 Development Meet at the weekend and came away with a first Regional qualifing time of the year for Kyle Holmes, 19 first places and over 60 pbs.

Winter Regionals results

A record 17 Hemel swimmers participated in the East Region Winter Regionals at Luton over the weekend of 6th and 7th December, which was the sixth biggest representation from clubs in the whole of East Region which includes Herts, Beds, Cambs, Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex.

Highlights included Emily Jelfs becoming the first Hemel girl to swim 100 free in under a minute, two new Summer Regional qualifiers in Jack Christie (who broke the 25 second barrier for 50 free for the first time) and Josh Gaines, and 11 new Club records, many of which had only been set at Club Champs in the previous two weeks. The ladies Open 100 free record was even broken twice by different swimmers in a 5 minute spell!
