A stunning swim by 13yr old Charlie Rayner in the 100 breastroke at the first round of Arena League saw him take a massive 4 seconds off his PB to record a time of 1:11.60; the fastest short course time for a 13yr old boy in the country (yes that really is country and not county!) in the last 12 months. Rankings change all the time but as of the second week of October 2014 Charlie is the best in Britain!
Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club continued their promising early season form under the new Head Coach Justin Langford with a very strong showing in the first round of the National Arena League finishing third on the night with 15 new Club records and 25 top 3 finishes. A squad of 34 swimmers aged from 10 to adult were at the Luton Inspire swimming pool taking on strong competition from across the London Region.
Two Hemel Hempstead swimmers Charlie Rayner and Max Jelfs who are both aged 13 are to receive County honours having been selected to participate at the National Inter-County gala on the 19th October. The prestigious annual event is held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield where the National Championships are held each year in the summer. Each County selects its strongest squads for the 13,15 and 17 and under age groups based on the previous year.
On a busy weekend of racing for Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club, some members of the Masters Team made the journey to Newmarket for the 2014 East Region Championships to claim 7 gold medals and numerous PBs.
